Uromastix Vs Beardie?

jim lacey Jul 26, 2003 02:15 PM

Hi, I was just wonding, those of you who own both a Beardie & a Uro, how does a Uromastix's personnality compare to a dragon's? My beardie Pepe's personnality is great and I was thinking of getting a Uro later on and wondered if they are as tame and active as a bearded dragon. Our Pepe love to have free roam of our living room and is quite curious and active, you can check out some photos of him on our home page www.jandjlacey.com (Pepe's Page). Thanks for your responses.

In my experience Uro's have a more independent personality and are more active. It seems as though your dragon is more active than most of mine however. My egyptian Uromastyx Boulder is super tame, loves to explore the backyard and the house and will lie down with you if he gets tired. He's my "pet" lizard more than my beardies are. That being said, Uro's are less consisently tame as Beardies are.

Could I ask what size tank you have for him, I took a look at his photo gallery and really like your set up for him.
