my neighbors dragon was fed rhodedendron flowers yesterday and they called me today to say its regurging and looks bad. I sent them to the vet but is there a emergency proceedure for accidental poisoning of reptiles? I live in a small town and everyone calls me first and I would like to know if there is first aid that can be done while waiting to see the vet? Thanks.

regurgitation probably is the only thing that can help a reptile that may be poisoned....There really isn't any way I know of to induce regurgitation in reptiles. Alot of fluids (ie water) may help slow the poison but it really depends on how the poison reacts. Poisoning is just one of those things that need immediate veternarian care and there isn't any way to do anything at home that can help, without risking the life of the dragon even more.

Thanks for the advice. Sorta what I expected but thought I should ask. I haven't heard back from them as to how the dragon is doing. Just yesterday I recieved another call with a sad story involving thier young dragon. Seems they had friends over for the fourth and someones kid thought it would fun to bring thier pet toad. Some how the toad ended up in the beardies tank and of course the beardie tried to eat him and died. The beardie owners were not even in the room at the time! People at the gathering even laughed! I am giving the family a new dragon but I thought by retelling this maybe it will save someone some grief in the future. Thanks again. Brenda
