OK, but are the hunting grounds for this location in Crockett?

Joe Forks Sep 19, 2007 09:54 PM

both I suppose but I liked the section in Pecos between 10 and Iraan

I think most of the alterna come from the cuts west of Iraan, as Joe said. As you leave to the east into Crockett county there isn't much habitat except for a few big cuts that don't look as good for alterna.

I'm sure Michael P. will know if people get them in the Crockett county side of Iraan.

All of the Iraans that I have had came from Pecos County. I do know of a couple of alterna from the Crockett side on both 190 and the dirt road that parallels the Pecos. I have NEVER seen another collector East of Iraan, but have seen lots over the years West, so data may be a little skewed due to collecting bias. There is also a dirt road that heads up from 190 East of Iraan towards Big Lake in Reagan county that I have unconfirmed reports of alterna. It certainly looks good in spots.

I have a female 2 yr old from west of Iraan I would love to find a male for if you are producing any. The female is light alterna phase. (Tom)

Sorry Tom, I got rid of my last Iraan alterna about 10 years ago. I really don't know of anyone that is breeding them. Mike Price might know of someone.

how's the family..

Everybody is doing well. I can't get the old fart to do anything herp-wise with me though. I did hunt the Black Range for one day with him this year, but that was it. I thought that he would get fired up over that Gap snake that we found this year, but that didn't even work!

I thought someone mentioned that you were trying to trade it?

I hope you keep it...

Best Wishes,

Hey Steveo

I thought about trading it but ended up keeping her. I'm glad I did. She is doing well and I'm looking foward to breeding this locale. (Tom}

you been???.....i didn't see you at hamburg or plains...

stevenxowens792 Sep 21, 2007 08:35 AM

Do Iraan's seem to have more problems flourishing in captivity than other alterna? ie More trouble feeding, gaining weight, breeding, etc... This is say in comparison to a Juno, 277 or Langtry.

Best Wishes,
