I picked up a baby Blair's last Saturday at the Columbus, OH show. She will be a mate for my 06 male. No locale info but she is a beauty. If I knew how to post pics, I would. The breeder did not even have time to feed her so I bought her "straight from the egg". On Monday I tried to feed her. She ate an u/s f/t after only a couple of minutes in her cage!!! I know that alterna has a bad rep as babies for not feeding, but this one tore it up immediately!!! How good do you feel when your babies take their first meal??!!

Having them take a frozen thawed rodent right off the tongs is a perfect way to have any snake.... no messing with scented or brained or even having to come back after a few hours to check, just a done deal up front.

Congrats...

Some breeders try to look for that trait and keep reproducing it. That is one thing that generics may have an advantage over locality. You can specifically look for hatchlings with strong feeding habits, breed these together, and keep looking for those with those traits. Eventually it is possible to come up with a line that is very very strong pinky/mice feeders.

Anyone want to chime in with some examples or opinons?

Best Wishes,

That is very interesting. To think to breed for feeding response---amazing! All I know is, even with the sometimes problem feeder, there is no snake as beautiful!!
