What a nice low band count dark blairs Stu, WOW!

StuTennyson Oct 01, 2007 07:26 PM

The grayband gods smiled on me this year for sure!

thats a cool looking alterna. I give it an 8. All the rest are nice too. I give them 5's and 6's. Your collecting year gets a 9.5 though. Congrats. {Can't give a 10 since none came from hard to collect places, i.e. west of Terrel County!!!]

Brad

I appreciate your generous appraisal. This was by far my best year ever and probably for some time to come. I agree that western snakes might be more challenging to find. I mainly hunt where I do because of the close proximity to my home in Ft Worth. I can leave Ft Worth after work and be hunting by 9 pm. I've hunted all the other locations before with no luck. Couple that with logistical difficulties like distance from gas, food and lodging I choose to hunt closer. However, now that my alterna "fix" is somewhat satisfied I might try and reach out again to those more elusive "westerns". Come on down and we'll burn some cuts together!

wow some nice sanderson there, i think most people have allready heard of the success you had this year, nothing wrong with OBSERVING animals. even TP&W cant [bleep] about that, well maybe just a little. maybe fernando can push through some laws that will make everyone only use one eye to view herps next year lol

I just finally got around to sharing the pics. I like the last two also but I like the other dark weird one too. I think it was the 5th one. Thanks for looking.

Nicest snake in the bunch IMHO. Great to see some wild alterna on the forum. Shots like this have been greatly missed by me, as well as many others I would presume. Congrats on a great year.

Might be careful posting pics of alterna with a time stamp, and in daylight, just my opinion...

Until they make collecting alterna illegal I wouldn't worry about it.

Until they make photography illegal and the internet is considered a place of absolute truth and certainty I would not worry about it.

Nothing you say on hear will have them knocking on your door, but it could draw them out to localities at night.

I like the shot of your hand for size comparison. Good thinking. I do the same when a quarter isn't available.

It was not my hand, it was somebody else... and I am not just jerking your chain, he was afraid it would teleport away or something before I could shoot the picture.

But it does kind of have an interesting action effect on the shot

Stu,

nice animals. You know that they were reserved for 2 German greenhorns and had been placed on the rocks by Roy for them, not for you?!

I must go back there, miss Texas....

I'll return them this weekend but you better hurry!! If I let them loose they may not last long if Colin Smith is there but if Brad Anderson is there take your time! Ha Ha

Burnsy Oct 03, 2007 02:52 PM

There are no snakes in Texas anyway . Waste of time and then you stop at a pet store each time you get to show us pics!
