I believe I have a clutch mate to yours in my trio, thanks to my friend Tom. She is in the first picture, the next is a female produced in 2004 by Mattson, and finally a male produced by Troy Hibbitts in 2000. It sounds to me like you got a killer deal on those river roads at the Daytona show, Take your time looking for more, it might be tougher to replicate that. I am hoping to produce rivers for the first time in 2008.
Rivers are some of the best. Congrats!
Looking for others may not be difficult, just a matter of timing.
The recomended breeders section on the Alterna Page is a start.
Keep checking the classifieds. If you find some folks that are working with locality animals, email them and ask if they will add you to their list for first choice. Vivid pays for advertising on this site so I guess it is ok to mention them. Vivid reptiles sells some nice RRs but they are moderate to expensive in price. Quality stuff though. Definite Quality.
Good Luck,
Steven Owens

Ya I think Vivid has a pair of Rivers available right now.
I met with Lindsay Pike in Tampa again last week. I see him at all the shows. I know he has adult River Roads and I'm going to hit him up for babies when he has some. I also checked with Lee Abbott at Daytona. He had a few Juno Roads that sold out pretty quick and that was it. I'm definitely going to talk to some folks on the alterna page breeders list. I'd looked it over before and noticed several RR breeders.
Of course Gaps and Xmas mountains are on my short list, too.
What would be considered the most "coveted" locality?

1 Huecos
2 Black Gap
3 Xmas
4 River
5 Davis
6 Alpine
7 Sanderson
8 277
9 Juno
10 Langtry
That's the order I would put them in. It used to be the western localities were worth alot more than the easterns but with captive breeding you should be able to get very good examples of any of those localities for $125-150. In other words a really nice 277 would probably cost more than a below average Gap nowdays, whereas 6 or 7 years ago even a "dog ugly" Gap would have cost $300 . I think really good Huecos and Gaps might still be about $200-250 and good Langtries maybe only $75-100. If you know the right person or are willing to take just hatched nonfeeders you can sometimes get any of them for quite a bit less.
I also have to wonder how HB12 will affect prices. I doubt it will make commercial collecting alterna a viable endeavor but it might cause a bit of a "mad rush" price increase.

Aaron, you left out a few localities. LOL

Ya I left out Sheffield, Iraan and a few others because they are not readily available, plus I don't really know how much they would cost.
I only gave general localities and the original questioner would be better informed if I had stated that most of them have little sub-localities, for example the sub-localities of Langtry include Langtry, east Langtry, west Langtry, Lozier Canyon, Palma Draw, Eagles Nest and perhaps a few others. The best you can do is to get unrelated stock that is within the particular sub-locality but IMHO if you breed a Lozier to an Eagle's Nest you still have a babies that represent Langtry as a whole.
All these locality names are giving me visions, I can't wait to go out there again.

Tell me about it. It's going to be a long winter for me.
