Cooling a yearling

wvherp Oct 13, 2007 07:15 PM

I have a yearling alterna that is not much bigger than a hatchling. He was cooled last year because he would not eat. When he came out of brumation he started to eat. He has done quite well on F/T until this week. I tried giving him a live pinky last week, and he would not take it. So I gave him a f/t today, again, no response. He usually takes it right away, in fact I have fed him from my hand before. Should I cool him, as he was before, or should I try him again?? Don't want to lose him.

I would try to feed him again for the next couple of weeks.. As the temp is prob. too warm to hibernate him now anyway..

If he does not take food again then I would put him into hibernation again for the winter.

Mike,
Thanks for the info. Always enjoy reading what you have to say on the forum. By the way, I have seen some of your babies on this forum and must say you produce beautiful alterna. Keep it up!!!
