Some of you may remember this project I aquired from VPI some months back. Mom on right, son on left.

Here are the results of the pairing, hatched 3/12/08:

3.2 not quite like mom, but they are kind of cool...

They look like the male. Damn, how did that happen? I suspect I'll probably end up being in the same boat in a couple months after trying to do the same thing with this female and her son. It's fun to hope and try though.

Ryan, I also have a couple of her female babies from '06 that have those junky patterns and "keyholes."
Good luck with your project!

That animal looks different enough that it's hard to imagine it's not genetic... maybe the animal has to "age" to get that look? All part of the game I guess, some are really screamers and some just bomb out... I'm not sure I'd give up yet, but it's certainly not the results I was hoping you were going to get!
Regards,
Bristen.

Nice clutch!...I know it wasn't quite what you were hoping for,but...
Whether she is dom/do-dom or recessive. It's entirely possible that you missed the 50% odds..Mom definitely has the "has to be genetic" look,so maybe it will turn out to be a recessive trait(,or if the 3.2 look enough like the sire, then maybe it is a really subtle co-dom).
If it were me,I would keep them all and try again next year too.

I'm still hoping I just missed. All of her offspring that I have here have the same strange patterns. Could just be coincidence...

I'm thinking that she's going to throw killer animals like that all the time....throw her to a yb or a pastel or a spider and I bet you get some clean bright animals.
Pretty snakes for sure.
