Hey Josh,
First of all congrats on most likely saving this snakes life...cudos to you!
I do have one question though. What kind of hot dog was it? There are different things they put into hot dogs and depending on brand and skinless or skin on it can make a big difference. Some hot dogs are made with all kinds of different meats ranging from pork to chicken and everything in between. If you have to feed a hot dog to a snake I would definately go with all beef as there are not as many preservatives in them and if you really want to go all out the skin on dogs are probably the best because they are encased with the actual real lining...not some unrealistic casing that can be bad for the snake. I mean rats and mice have real intestinal casings right so it has to be better for the snake!
One thing I would definately stay from would be cheese dogs of any kind. I really don't think that the cheese can be good for the snake and if it was we would be feeding them Polly-O string cheese and not hot dogs.
Kosher hot dogs...I wouldn't go there either because I hear they way the animals are slaughtered is a bit inhumane.
I would recommend to stay away from cheap hot dogs also because they have more things in them like lips, beaks, hooves, feet, and butts.
Brands...I would stay away from Ball Park because of obvious reasons...they plump when you cook them! Duh...do you want your snake to regurge a hot dog that is twice the size as when it went down?
If you want...let me know the brand and I can research what's in it and the potential harm it may cause the ball python.
Hey...congrats again!
