This girl arrived today and as I was looking her over, I found she has red, irritated scales on her belly. I have her on paper and applied neosporin.
Does this look like the start of scale rot or could it be something else?

I can’t see it very well but it looks like the start of a fungal infection (scale rot ) get some antifungal cream that has Clotrimazole as the active ingredient ,I get the Equate brand from Wal-Mart , and mix it 50/50 with a triple antibiotic cream and apply daily until there is no trace of it left then keep it up for 2-3 more days . My rescue had some scales that looked like that when I took her in. Some looked even angrier. I used a dilute Novalsan to clean her belly once every day, more to make me feel like I was helping but I couldn't tell you if it really did much. After her next shed her belly looked perfect.

Neosporin should do it. Make sure you work it up under the scales. I believe even something like a athelete foot cream like Lotrimin would work, but I had one with an even worse case and the Neosoprin worked. Keep their belly dry also. What humidity are you running?

Basically no humidity now. It's dry in there until this gets cleared up. I have raised the temps a bit in the hot spot of the tub to 90 degrees to hopefully boost the immune system. I even put in a smaller bowl so she can't soak. I would really like to see the setup she was in before coming here and how in the world could you miss this when you are sending out a snake to someone? I saw this the second she came out of the box.

Sorry - missed the "arrived today" part. You seem to have it under control and the snake should be off and running (ehh....crawling)in no time!
