I have heard many comments in regards to “digital thermometers with probes”. What are these? I don’t think I’ve seen one before, could someone post a link or something to a picture of one please? Also, when you take the temperature of the “basking” and “cooler” area of the cage, can you trust those “tape stick-on” type thermometers? Are we measuring the air temperature or the surface temperature? Whew! With all these questions I have rolling around in my head I’ll probably never feel ready to buy my dragon!

I have a few different kinds of thermometers that I use, and by far the most accurate is the infrared thermometer. You just point and shoot. You can see them at www.tempgun.com. They are $35 plus shipping.

I also have indoor/outdoor thermometers that I got before I had the infrared one. They work ok especially if you only have one enclosure. Other wise you have to get more than one thermometer or you will be constantly moving it around from cage to cage then it takes awhile to get a reading. I included a link at the bottom of this page that will take you to one of Radioshack's indoor/outdoor thermometers.

I don't know what happened. Anyways, go to www.radioshack.com and search for thermometer. They have several, but you'll find the indoor/outdoor ones with the probes with no problem. They have one on sale right now for $14.99. But I found mine at Walmart for around $10.
