Finally, these little ones started to hatch - a few days later than I expected. So far, two females. Hoping for more as last season, I was heavy with males.

don't take this wrong.....

but you don't have to cut a hole in the egg's top for the baby to get out of..

you can just cut a semi-circular slit in it......

they look so messy......

and I know..I would not want to be covered in vermiculite at all.....especially in my face, nostrils, eyes, and mouth.....while I am trying to take my first life's breath.....

.........

I pull the eggs from the vermiculite actually..an set them in a shoebox with paper.moistened.....so they can hatch there.....(otherwise they would fry in the coils of the Hova-Bator).....

..so..anyways....bath them well......remember..if water feels warm to you..it is probably too hot for them...???

have fun........

That's good advice changing the substrate after they pip.
I'll remember that one.

That's actually not a bad idea. Glad I read it. I often skip some posts.

first.just trying to help also with the spellings and grammer...

if it makes you feel any better..

1...they were busting my chops in cornsnakes forum for typing in incomplete sentences and all..they don't get it..

2.I know alot of teachers that cannot spell or make grammerical choices correctly......trust me.more than 3....

anyways......

yes..they are having trouble with life ...first few days suck..

so clean them up

vermiculite can cause cancer in greenhouse workers.(as per Rich Zuchowski told me in 1990)........

anything in your lungs would be bad...

I know.it is wet and your babies didn't inhale alot of it....but eating it would suck too.......it sticks to everything......

it is a rock.......

have fun....good luck.......JY

you, correcting anyone's spelling or grammer

But I will use your idea for moving them to paper towels once they begin to pip.

.....grammer...I know too...just choose to type like this....

easier.......

JY

....pip some more.........

still hatching here...corns...corns..corns too..opal aztecs all over the place....damn.......75 corns this last few days I bet....

Thanks Ken!

All are out of the egg except one. So far I have 3.6. Hopefully, the last one is female. But if not, I can't complain, I'm doing better with females this season than last.
