I have a couple new girls that I want to breed with my male. He's about 4 years old and they're a few months old. How old or what size should they be before I put them in the same cage?
Thanks,
Johnny

girls are suggested to be around 1500 grams before they should breed.
have you ever heard of people having problems with ball pythons sharing cages?
you should keep them 1 per cage as ball pythons are solitary by nature. So keeping them together can stress them out, if one gets sick both might (x2 the vet bills). Also don't put a male and female in the same cage at all or breeding could happen when the female is too small.
if you don't have enough cages and that is why you are asking. You can turn a rubbermaid container into a cage very easily.
damn.... I have three ball pythons and two cages... I was hoping that once the little ones grew up I'd move them into the cage with the male, the two girls get along... are you sure about putting each of them in a separate cage?
sure....we all use one snake per cage...( got 300 snakes and 300 cages)........
.....you "can" put the 2 girls together...it is done......they won't fight......or hate each other...they like being with friends.....
feed seperately........
once they feed......they can be in a "feeding" mood and bite anything that moves...and if they smell mice on their breath yet....and see the other girl move...they could grab each other and kill each other.........
yes...it has happened.......
yes...they have eaten each other before........
balls have done it.......corns have done it.......almost all snakes can eat each other by accident even.....
they won't breed till winter of 2006 at least.......
have fun........

this is what happen to one person who put more than 1 snake in a cage
Yeah ,they each need their own "space".
Since you have 3 ..then you may want to look into constructing a rack system,(later on).
In which case you could just go out and get a rubbermade or stearilite tub for the one now, and use it later in the rack system.
