Hi, I want to start my Cham research but cant decide which kind to get. I am in between Panthers and Veilds. I want one tolerable of a first time owner and also one that could be handled( I know about stress, I mean like once a week). Please give me good sites, books, and species suggestions!!! Thanks!!!

Hi - just so you know this forum tends to slow down a bit on the weekends so be patient for a reply

As for choosing a species these animals do not like to be handled though some will tolerate. I am told that veileds are more aggressive, but since I only have one (a 15 month old veiled) I can't compare her to another. She can be bit-cy but she is my little sweetie. Panthers tend to be more colorful than veiled so a lot of people like them for that reason.

AdCham (see below) has profile on MANY species and Cham News has done some srticles on certain species.

Thsee are a few sites that are recommended:

Chameleon News
This is a top source of current information compiled and written by “tops in their field.”
www.chameleonnews.com/

AdCham
www.adcham.com/

Chameleon Paradise – a site by one of our forum posters. He has FAQ, do’s and don’ts, cage building
http://www.chameleonparadise.com/

Chameleon Journals – www.chameleonjournals.com/

Reptayls – another site by a fellow KS poster
groups.msn.com/REPTAYLSChameleons
Obviously the most important thing for any herp is to have a proper setup BEFORE you get your animal, but I am guessing since you have herps already you probably know that.

After you check out the sites feel free to ask questions here (just be patient on the weekends )
