Got my first jax yesterday morning, pics later (pic of the enclosure below). 10 mos., looks great, drank a boatload and ate 3 crix right out of my hand, awesome! A few observation based questions. I had 60 W bulbs before, but it got a little over 90F, so I swapped them out for 40W, which brought it to about 85 or so, which is what I've read to be the right temp. Anyway, he spends 90% of his time in the basking spot, so does that mean I should bring the spot back up with the 60W? Room temp about 75 give or take a couple. For most other herps this would be a simple answer, if they spend all their time basking, bring it up, no time basking, bring it down. But obviously chams are not like most herps, so that's why I ask. Also is it typical for them to have little pieces of shed hanging off? Not constricting shed, but just little patches here and there. I guess it'll fall off on its own? Sorry if I seem like a worry-wart! He seems like he lost 2 toenails before I got him, but no big deal, right? They seem to have healed nicely. Thanks for your time.
