?s about feeding amounts, veiled adult male vs female panther

chimbakka Aug 29, 2004 10:39 PM

Right now I have a 2 year old female panther. She doesn't eat much, about 8-10 large mealies a week (she won't eat anything else, I'll save you the details, if you're concerned ask ). I'm going to be getting a baby male veiled soon *fingers crossed* and i know that they eat a lot more. I'm just wondering if people here with male veileds can let me know what they eat per week. Also, what is a normal amt for a female panther to eat?
I'm hopefully going to get some silkworms and chow and eggs and get something started with them. Now that i'll have another mouth to feed I'll hopefully use enough worms to be worth breeding them This is why i'm asking, i'm trying to crunch some numbers so i don't end up with 100s of unneeded worms.
Thanks a bunch!!!
sorry if this isn't entirely coherent, it's late!!

Hey Lindsay,

Have not seen you on the forum in a lonnnnng time! How is your girl doing. I remember that she was going through some egg laying issues. Hope she is doing well now. Anyways, our females eat 5 days a week. We alternate between silkworms, crickets and small hissers. On silkworm days, they'll eat 1 to 2 large worms, which seems to fill them up. On cricket days, about 8 medium sized. We feed young hissers as treats. But some females do eat less than others. Hope this helps!

I've been really busy lately, and my computer was acting up, so I haven't been here for a while.
Orion is doing okay. She won't use her dripper so she gets a few showers a week and I have to hand spray her and hand feed her (I think she thinks she's royalty lol). She doesn't usually get enough to drink, but she just hates that dripper!! She's nuts. She's pushing two years, so I hope she'll be ok. She is starting to look old (a few black spots and her colour isn't as nice as it was) but she's still a tough cookie. I'll be getting a new little veiled soon so i'll probably be on here a bit more freshening up on my skills

I remembered you too. Glad to hear Orion's ok, it's been a while since we were all updated. Good luck with your veiled.
