Veiled Chamies

andreac Sep 01, 2004 08:44 AM

I bought 2 baby veils on ainternet site and received them in great condition about 1 1/2 weeks ago.I'm not sure how old they are (seller hasn't answered the email yet)the female is doing great....does everything a chami's suposed to do but I am worried about my male he doesn't want to eat hides in his plant or roams all over the cage.I do know that sometimes they go on hunger strikes but since he's so tiny still I'm worried....how long can one of those hunger strikes last?......any tips on how to get him to eat? Also is there a way to tell how old they are?I do offer a variety of insects.

Thank you for all your help

He is probably stressed by something and is too freaked to eat. Are these two housed together? If so, separate them ASAP, give the little male more privacy and don't overrun the cage with food. Sometimes little chams get mesmerized by too much prey and just sit and watch rather than shoot.
