Very sad day

FisherCham20 Sep 01, 2004 03:09 PM

This morning I went to feed my chameleon and couldn't locate him. Went ahead and fed and watered him as I was on my way out the door and it's not uncommon not to see him (very well planted). When I got him, he hadn't eaten anything and I still couldn't find him. I got worried and searched some more. After 10 minutes of just looking, I opened his cage and looked harder. I found him on the bottom, between two plant pots. He had died. I had heard a noise coming from his cage last night but just figured he was moving around. I think that's when he must have fallen. What's really upsetting is that he was doing just fine before that. Eating well, drinking a lot, conditions didn't change. My only thought is that when our power was out from the storm, he got too hot and stressed. But that was like 2 weeks ago. For those who don't know, he (Bender) was a Fisher's chameleon. Had him for almost a year...year next month. I believe he was about a year or two when I got him, wild caught. Just wanted to share. And maybe learn if this was a good time lenght for a fisher...or if I could have done better? Thanks

Sorry to hear about your loss. I remember when you first posted Bender on this forum. I thought he was really pretty. Just find some comfort knowing that you took great care of him.

How Sad I am surprised to hear this as I know he was well and you are a great mom/dad(?) Can you have a necropsy done or will you just let it be? We all know that you cared alot and took good care so be kind to yourself about it. My heart goes out to you.
