beardie ate 3 leaves off plant

tazziesmommy Jun 02, 2005 06:17 PM

My beardie ate 3 leaves (and possibly 1 blossom) off of my trailing purple lantana (lantana montevidensis). I don't find that plant listed on the poisonous plants web sites listed in an earlier post, but I was wondering if anyone knew anything in particular about this plant. She was outside basking after her afternoon "swim" and got to my new plant quicker than I could! I've only had the plant about 10 days, so I suppose there could be a pesticide of some sort on it (I got it from Loew's). She is an otherwise healthy adult and has also eaten about 1 and 1/2 cups of her salad (organic spring mix with added dandelion greens and collard greens), about 2 dozen crix and 4 or 5 mealies. (She laid several clutches of eggs this spring and has been eating like crazy to make up for lost time!)

Should I take her to the vet or will she be OK?

Thanks,
Lisa

It would be highly unlikely that it was sprayed with anything at lowes (lantana are commonly used as "butterfly magnets". I don't think I would FEED them to her, but I don't think it will hurt her either.

Good luck!

Thank you very much! I certainly won't feed it to her, but it's good to know I don't need to rush to the vet with her! Ever since laying her eggs, she has turned into an eating machine! I don't know where she puts all that food!

Thanks again!
