Hey there,

Most likly, your chameleon's basking light is too close to her. How high is it positioned above her? A light too close to any chameleon can be a potential threat, and chameleons will not likly move for they have to thermoregulate. I have had to deal with chameleons that attained burns from the lamps, and its not a pretty site. When she "gasps" or "gapes" that may mean she is too hot...and she is releasing some of the heat, but it is different in all chameleons. Just my thoughts, thanks!

K-

Do you notice any other weird behavior like strange noises or excess mucus in her mouth, lack eating...? Her gaping could be from her being to hot, or signs of respiratory infection. Post details on your setup, it may help explain your situation a bit better. Hope this helps!

I have turned her light down, she has stopped holding her mouth open. I guess she was just to hot.

She eats a ton of crickets each day, drinks, and goes to the bathroom. I don't think she is sick.
I think you all were right it was just the heat.
I do admit i am surprised she wouldn't just move away.

Thank you for your help
