Zambi sure does have a big round tummy, I'm not sure if she is pregnant or not, but does seem quite large through the middle.

Since they have live birth, is that when I will find out? LOL

Really, anyway of knowing for sure, I have never witnessed them mating, but they do sit close alot of the time, they seem to be quite receptive to one anothers company.

Great picture of Zambi.
From the looks of her, I'd say you might be expecting... she looks much like the female jacksons and rudis we have had. They get quite plump them start dropping babies. Usually in the mornings is when I would find them starting. The female's side will heave with the labor - so you should get some idea to look for little ones.

Maybe she won't reject the male until she gets closer to the due date? We have never kept werneri, so can't tell ya on that one. We always kept our live bearers separate (if in cages), but we did have a mixed colony of jax in the greenhouse. They all had their territories, and the females would find a quiet place to have babies.

Lots of good stuff you both wrote, thanks ! I have no pics at the moment from above I will have to take some, just been super busy lately.

She seems to be eating a little less, and has been hanging at a very low branch that is almost on the bottom of the cage, kind of goes down along side of the tree pot.

When I wake in the morning the male is sitting in front of the door, waiting for the light to come on and the shades to go up. But she has already made her way all the way down to the bottom branch to sit.
She does not come up to the top of the tree until late afternoon or bedtime.
She looks great, just moves around less than she had and is rounder.

How long does it take for them to give birth?

Sorry to say I have not kept any records of her weight. Guess I will have to keep watching, I have the panther who is gorgeous, but I really like these little chameleons too, something real cute about them

Eve - do you have an image of Zambi taken from above? From my experience and and the descriptions of others, Werner's are a pretty robust species, and many of the females that people believe to be gravid based on shape are not. Do you have an image of her from above? Do you have any serial weights on her? Have you noticed a drop in appetite?

My one female was so big that I thought she was going to explode (1/2 joking, 1/2 serious). Her body was very tense to the touch. I noticed a decrease in appetite about 3 weeks before she dropped her clutch.

I really hope that she is gravid. The babies are so cute. If she does have babies (now or any time in the future) - please let me know, as I would like to get more captive bred stock to really try and establish these guys.

I don't have any pics ready to be posted on KS - but I can email you some of my female taken a week or so before she gave birth for comparison.
