The Spotted turtle (Clemmys guttata) is a small, semi-aquatic turtle that reaches a carapace length of 3 - 5 in. upon adulthood. Their carapace ranges in color from black to a bluish black with a number of yellow tiny round spots. Spotted turtles are aquatic omnivores that inhabit a variety of semi-aquatic fresh-water areas such as flooded forests, marshes, wet meadows, bogs and woodland streams.

The wood turtle (Glyptemys insculpta) is a turtle endemic to North America, whose defining characteristic is the pyramidal pattern on its upper shell. It spends a great deal of time in or near the water, preferring shallow, clear streams with compacted and sandy bottoms.

Here you may post messages or questions pertaining to all aspects and issues regarding the keeping, breeding, health, and conservation of spotted turtles, bog turtles and all North, Central, & South American wood turtles.
