Skinks are lizards belonging to the family Scincidae and with about 1200 described species, the Scincidae are the second most diverse family of lizards, exceeded only by the geckos.

Skinks look like true lizards, but most species have no pronounced neck and sport relatively small legs, and several genera have no limbs at all while others have only reduced limbs. The longer the digits, the more arboreal the species is. Often, their way of moving resembles that of snakes more than that of other lizards. Skinks usually have long, tapering tails that can be shed and regenerated.

Skinks are generally carnivorous and largely eat insects, including crickets, grasshoppers, beetles, and caterpillars. They also eat earthworms, snails, slugs, isopods, other lizards, and small rodents.

Here you may post messages or questions pertaining to all aspects and issues regarding the keeping, breeding, health, and conservation of all Skinks.
