Photo courtesy of jlassiter 		Here you may post messages or questions pertaining to all aspects and issues regarding the keeping, breeding, health, and conservation of all kingsnakes (snakes of the genus Lampropeltis). Kingsnakes are new world colubrid snakes inhabiting North and Central America, and encompass a wide variety of sizes and color forms. Found in a variety of habitats, kingsnakes are often collected by hobbyists for study and captive breeding. Commonly kept as pets because of their relatively easy care requirements and their bright coloration, most kingsnakes available today are captive bred specimens, available in most sub-species, and many locality and genetic color morphs. Kingsnakes were one of the first commercially available captive bred reptiles, and many of the old school commercial breeders of reptiles today got their start working with kingsnakes in the 1970's. Kingsnakes are often referred to in literature as natures "living jewels" because of their sometimes strikingly beautiful coloration.
