Is there a plan for changing the forums up? The archaic yet functional current setup is familiar to those of us that have been around at one point or another, but it I'm sure has played into in some part the loss of users over the years.

YES! We will be updating this soon and there will be options.
The biggest complaint of users and one of the big fratures was the way they threaded and this was something I brought up with Jon right away. We hit the classifieds first and last week rolled out the new landing page. Forums are coming soon with a few options on how the user sees them.

Just wanted to pop on here real quick to share my excitement for the next chapter of Kingsnake.com. When I was searching for care info on house snakes as a teenager in 2020, one of the only articles on them I could find was on Kingsnake.com. Now, if all goes well, Later this year I will be producing my first clutch of albino cape house snakes. Even as a young guy in the herp world I have a lot of nostalgia for the old forum websites and I'm so hyped to see it being revived! On top of that, in today's culture of social media and instant gratification, it's refreshing to see a platform reemerging that requires a more intentional search for knowledge and community. I hope that aspect of Kingsnake.com is able to remain as it moves towards being modern and relevant again. Anyway, best of luck to Jon and his team!

Don't use your google drive url.
You can upload photos to the Photo Gallery and then easily link to them in the forums by cut & pasting the Image URL, or by using the BBCodes.

Every day working with our animals is a pleasure and an honor to us both. There’s something about the Short-Tailed Python complex that really just fills us with joy and love. January was a tough month. It has been interesting battling humidity due to extremely cold temperatures here in Pennsylvania (and much of the U.S.). Since we have everything under 24/7 surveillance and closely track our temperatures and humidity on our phones, it was easy identifying any kinks in our armor and taking quick action to supplement what we already had going on in our rooms. Where is this going? Well, despite having to work a little extra hard around the clock to make sure all husbandry parameters remained perfectly dialed in, we feel these challenges opened our eyes to the importance of being prepared for possible issues ahead of their arrival and reminded us that no level of experience should equal complacency. Our favorite part of the month was learning more about our own setups and about how we can improve and better equip our rooms/facilities for inclement weather/emergency situations. That’s it. Education. This education came with wholesome conversations, fun activities and ultimately a permanently safer environment for our animals. It is important to highlight that things change and as keepers we must learn how to better perform for our animals as new information is discovered and we must all remain teachable and open to making adjustments to our previously learned routines.

Super excited about the new era of Kingsnake! Coming here to answer the proposed question: “What was your favorite reptile, amphibian or invert moment from January?!”
For me, it was finally have baby Borneo Short Tails shed out after a staggering 5 months post hatch! Normally 90-110 days after hatching, these guys really pushed the limits! Lol! But to see some of the colors come in on them post shed is bonkers! Lots of oranges and reds by the neck! (Some may be listed on my website right now! ;-) LOL) But definitely a favorite highlight of the month!
What about you guys??

Even our southern keepers are facing unseasonable cold early this year and its a great reminder to arm yourself with knowledge to protect your cold-blooded kids.
Most of us rely on electricity to heat so when weather strikes hard, we can be victims of power outages. If you have at risk power supply, consider a backup generator. Even a portable camping generator with a long well gauged extension cord to power accessories could be leveraged.
Heat packs are key to more than just shipping. Don't have any, you can also use hot water. Putting hot water in 1 or 2 liter bottles wrapped in a towel in a storage tote or cooler can be critical when used for transporting short distances during the winter or if you lose power and plan to move the animals elsewhere.
Fire hazards are something we see more off during this time of year. Make sure heat tape is inspected. Watch out for signs of melting, warping or exposed contacts. Electricity is a herpers best friend and worst enemy. Respect it. Cheap and old electrical appliances like power strips and heat emitters can be a fire hazard.
For those of us doing animal rescue, its always a good idea to have a go box. Typically a styrofoam shipper and extra heat packs for when you need to move an animal during these brutally cold times.
For our tortoise friends, hard mount basking lamps and consider removing hot bulbs/emitters from flammable materials like hay and wood decorations.

So I am fairly lucky where I live. I learned during a severe storm a few years ago, my electric is on the same grid as the grade school, which means I am top priority for power being on. The grade school is an emergency shelter so they get their power back fast. I have a few small battery powered heaters and a few small camping heaters. If need be for short times, I have in winter a quick set up to move everyone into the smallest room in the house (the bathroom) and set up heat. This works for 12 hours or less.
In excess of 12 hours, everyone relocates to my In-laws house. They have a backup wood burning stove as heat in their home.
Im somewhat lucky in that I solely do rescue and I am ready to go always. So I have bags and tubs set to move fast. I have stacks of tubs of all sizes to move stuff if needed depending on what is here. Thankfully right now, everything is fairly small and easily relocated with the exception of one boa constrictor that is bigger and my in-laws may not appreciate. 
But I kept their son alive so I can get away with anything....

This is a brilliant idea.
Reminds me of the local herp groups from before.
The meets could be posted in the events pages. This way when someone clicks on their state they'd see the monthly events.
Basically, your event already has a name soo seems logical to me.

Hi. Congratulations on purchasing kingsnake.com. My Idea is for having a page for local meet ups. It would be cool to start a group for certain species and post a meet up date and time where keepers/breeders could talk over pizza and beer. YouTube and podcasts have been great for herpetoculture but they lack any interaction with the listener. For example, I start a West Texas colubrid group for people in the Sacramento CA area and meet Whatever brewery once every couple months. I think the ability to meet with others in the hobby is lacking. That’s why Morelia Fest and Colubrid Fest are popular. It’s not just the animals, it’s meeting people.

I know this forum is dead and has been for a long time, if anything it's an archive of snake collections in the mid to late 2000s and the very early 2010s. I found this website originally when I was 16 and that's what lead me to my love of reptiles, snakes to be exact. So I am simply going to use this forum as a way to keep track of my collection online. While also browsing old photo galleries. Sometimes I wonder if those people are still in hobby and what snakes they currently have. I'm rambling now. Anyways, bye.
