So here is an updated photo of my favorite fat tail morph that I have ever seen or produced. He is a 30g male Striped White Out Oreo Patternless. He's got a light Silver and Purple hue to him when fired up. When he is cold his colors turn to a dark Grey ish Purple color. It took me three seasons to produce him working with visuals to create double hets to produce the first in early 2014. He is absolutely stunning in person I hope you like him

Hey everyone

Here are a few updated photos of some of our 2013 Fat Tail babies that we have hatched out so far. It's been a great 2013 season for us and we still have babies hatching out almost every day. A couple of late ovulating females will hopefully add some more cool babies later this summer. I hope you guys enjoy the photos!

And who said Fat Tails aren't colorful??? Not enough morphs??? We are just getting started!

I have an African Fat Tailed Gecko. He is one year old and has always been very healthy. He lives in a 10 gallon tank, with eco-bark as his substrate. He has always been a good eater, I have recently switched to feeding him larger crickets that he really loves and seems to have no problems eating. I have recently moved and have started going to anew pet shop to buy his food where they dust his crickets. His crickets have never been dusted before. He is very active, his eyes are clear and his tail is nice and fat. But today I noticed a white deposit on his snout. He shed yesterday so I originally thought it was just a bit of extra skin but it looks like more than that. After doing some research I discovered that this new pet store put way too much calcium on his crickets (they were almost totally white with powder) and I'm now really worried that my poor gecko (Manolo) has overdosed on Calcium. I'm so worried and I don't know what to do. Is there anything I can do to help Manolo?

Well today was a fun day I woke up and checked the incubator and our first pair of double hets had hatched! They are Oreo x Patternless and one was a Stripe and one was a Banded.

Then later today our first ever Striped White Out het Oreo hatched out! I missed the odds on the first clutch and just produced two normal hets.

A couple of hours later I checked to see if the clutch mate had hatched and just saw this one coming out of the egg! A Banded White Out het Oreo.

So not a bad day today

Me too! I'm not ready to spend the kind of money some of them are listed for either. They'll come down probably 15-50% in the next year or two.

Thanks for the information. I wouldnt say that you are being negative, you are stating the facts. I was just wondering because there are some morphs that I would love to work with in the next few years.

On average Fat-Tails lay fewer eggs per season than leopard geckos so the price should stay higher longer. Another factor is that the fat-tail morphs are still newer than most leopard gecko morphs. There are also lots of combos of fat-tails that have yet to be done yet so the value of the base morphs will remain higher since they are valuable in creating new morphs. Just my perspective on the market, not trying to speak negatively on leopard geckos. They are great geckos!

Leopard geckos and African fat tailed geckos are both excellent reptiles for first time reptile owner.

Fat tailed geckos are even more dosile than leopards are, and that is not much of a difference at all between the two.

Yes, I think that quite a bit is due to the color choices between the two, and that the African Fat Tailed gecko, doesn't get talked up as much by petstores as the Leopard geckos do.

In my opinion, Leopard geckos are there bread and butter, compaired to Fat tails.

I'm not sure how they are supposed to act. He is sleeping all of the time it seems. He does walk around when we take him out but it seems when he is in the tank he just stays in the same spot. I don't know anything about these critters, please help me. My daughter is in love with him. He is in the tank with another gecko, I believe that one is a day gecko. We got him about two weeks ago and he seems to be doing fine. I had no idea what I was getting involved in. I would appreciate all of the help I can get. We got them both from Pet Supermarket and they have no idea what they are doing. First they sold me a Tokay gecko and told me it was a Marble. I only discovered it on my own when we kept getting bit and found the information on the internet and now we have exchanged him for the Fat tail. When we got there they had him in a tank labeled baby Leopard geckos and it had sand on the bottom. He now has sand stuck to the bottom of his feet. I don't think he has any claws either. Please help!
