I want to be a wildlife rehabilitator someday but I cant really find any of the supplies you'd need. I know some of the things I need but I want to make sure that I'm not missing anything. I want to do just mammals in Ohio. So if anyone could provide a list of supplies that I'd need that would be great!

I bought a hedgehog from a local breeder about a month ago. It was a little hissy and balled up when I saw it and he told me that was just because he was quilling and would be fine after that stopped.
Well, it hasn't stopped. The hedgehog curls up and hisses as soon as you go near it. If you try to pick it up, it bounces so the quills hit you. Once it is finally out, I put it on the floor by me and wait. About a half hour later it uncurls and starts moving. If I attempt to touch it, it will make a clicking sound, hiss, try to bit and curl up again.
I am really pissed tight now. I feel like this breeder lied to me and this is really just a nasty hedgehog and he took advantage of the fact that I was trusting a breeder.
I could have gone to the petstore but instead went to a breeder. What a mistake!
Any help in calming this thing down would be great.
This was a birthday present for my daughter but she is scared of it.

Hi there, my name is Angelina. I have a large estate home in davie florida. We have U.S. FISH AND WILDLIFE PERMITS. We rescue or adopt large iguanas. We have a huge animal sanctuary here at our home with a large pond, and waterfalls with tons of vegetation for iguana rescues. We do not breed them. We have an 8 foot protected compound fence surrounding the whole property. We know how to handle dangerous iguanas, or tame ones as well
Our diet for the reptiles consists of the following : greens, veggies, and fruits: collard greens, dandelion greens, mustard greens, turnip greens, endive, escarole, watercress, snap peas, green beans, parsnip, butternut squash, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, and mango.

So, i'm mainly a reptile guy, but I recently thought of a fun idea with mammals. Why is it that we keep reptiles in super natural vivariums, but we keep gerbils, hamsters, mice, etc, in fully artificial enclosures? I was wondering if anyone else had any thoughts on this, experience, or ideas for setups. I think i'm going to start it off with gerbils. Thanks!

I have a 5 week old rat that seems to have been born with only a stub of a tail, it's a couple of inches long. Can anyone give me some feed back on this subject? Any negatives that I need to be aware of?

i have just gotten some rats that are a year and a half old. i was told they bathe them every week. for bedding they were using some sort of wood chips and the walmart brand of carefresh which i just changed. one of the rats is going bald on his butt. i can tell these rats are old just by looking at them they are jumbo rats sized. the bedding that the told me they had just changed looked like it had been there a while. i havent noticed any of the others loosing hair. could it be from over bathing, the wrong bedding or just old age or something else? i havent really noticed a lot of scratching but they do scratch. and i think one of them may be blind in one eye, he walks with his head tilted. any ideas? there are no vets near me that treat rats so that is out of the question

I have a male all black rabbit that needs a loving home. He has velvet fir and is very social. He is an indoor out door bunny and seems to love both. Almost litter trained about 10 months old.

I just got a flemish giant I plan on letting her roam about my bedroom, but she keeps getting under my bed and in the lining how can I get her to stop that. Also tips on cages for when I'm not home best store bought for indoors right now have a regular rabbit cage but her litter box won't fit in it for when I'm not home links to good cages for a flemish

I can't find what this rat would be considered, markings/coloration wise, so I figured I'd ask on here.

Parent wise, the male is a black hooded and the female is a mystery to me as well - she started off with a tan colored hood but has lost that coloration and instead is now all white aside from a bit of brown on her nose, she's also got dark red eyes - so I'm not sure what she'd be considered either. Siamese?

Anyway I just think this little guy looks cool and would like to know what he'd be considered, I guess? Lol, thanks

My wife & I adopted a skunk a few months ago...she was & still is quite skiddish ( although slightly less now). We have made sure to feed all the right foods. She has filled out since we got her but she is not fat. Over the past few weeks we have noticed an increasing amount of hairloss & checked sites that suggested worms as a possible cause. We have wormed her a couple of times already & not only were there no worms in her stool but she is still losing hair & itching. We bought shampoo for fleas & lice which I haven't used yet because I see no signs of either. She has white & beige fur so I think that it would be easy to see & I see nothing. I don't want to traumatze her or put any more chemicals on her than I have to. We use aspen bedding in her litter boxes....is it possible that she is allergic to it? We are very concerned. She is a great eater & seems totally healthy otherwise. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Rob

I enjoy my pet coatis, we have four of the little buggers. I have two Mountain Coatis and two Whitenosed. I thought I would just make a shout out and see if there are others in the group. I can probably help if anyone has questions about keeping Coatis. I am a hobbyist and do not have anything to sell. Last night i saw it looks like my gliders butt was swollen. i thought maybe he could be constipated or something like that it seems it may also be affecting his legs he has been walking funny and having a little trouble getting around his cage im not sure whta this could be please help what can i try the vet isn't open until Monday maybe Tuesday and i dont want it to get worse.

I brought home my 10 week old male PBP about a week ago. I am absolutely head over heals for this little guy. Already 100% potty trained. Not one single accident this whole time he has been with us. He even sits on command as long as you have a treat of fruit or fresh veggies in hand. I'm reading anything I can get my hands on about training them and rearing them as a nice pet. Any advise or helpful hints would be so so appreciated. I am taking him in on the 10 of January to be neutered. He has already been having a day or two with his stuffed big bears and my poor Giant Flemish rabbit Zoey. Thanks for this forum and for letting me share.
