looks like a white sided black rat snake to me, not a king. but I have been out of the hobby a while so maybe they have other white sided species now. They also used to call theses "licorice sticks" back when dinosaurs roamed the earth!

So I got this as a corn snake, but I kinda recognized right away it wasn't a corn snake. Now my question is if not a corn snake what is it? I believe it to be a blotched king snake, but I'm still learning about snakes so what do you guys think?

I have a friend who has something similar, it is a "jungle corn" which is a cross between a corn and a king. Not sure if that is what this is but it is a possibility

A week ago I came across this little guy in far northern California, near the town of Dunsmuir, in the Cascade range, at an elevation of about 2,000 feet.
My grandson first spotted him moving along a small creek and approached him. The snake was very aggressive,a nd turned to move toward my grandson (age 6). My grandsn reached for him (bad Idea I know - I have talked to him about being more cautious around any wild snake), and the snake struck aggressively, and attempted to bite at my grandson's shoe.
I saw the activity and went to take a look. I have grown up in the valley floor not far from here, but have never encountered this species.
I am familiar with venomous snakes in California and could see it was not a pit viper or other dangerous species I knew of, so I picked him up. He acted aggressively toward me, but when I picked him up he became much more docile.
Anyway, he is a pretty little thing - my grandson and I looked at him for a couple minutes then released him where we found him.
Any help ID'ing the species would be appreciated thanks!

I'd? Think this is a juvenile black rat snake or is it a fox snake found by our home in a wooded area. Burrows climbs and swims a lot. My husband brought it in so we could try to figure out what it is, I ruled out massuaga rattlesnake because of round pupils.

I've had this guy for almost a year now and I'm still not 100% on what he is. It's mostly my own curiosity. He was given to the petstore as a "Jurassic king snake" which they figured was a king snake morph. I know they got him from a local breeder but they haven't been able to put me in contact with them. FB groups are thinking Jungle Corn which is what I've been going with for now but I can't find any local snake breeders in the state (Florida) that are selling a hybrid that looks like him. He was given to me by the store for $40 with full setup because he'd been there for a year already. He's got a really [bleep] personality and will garunteed bite you when handled. The etching on his scales sort of reminds me of a Gopher or Bull snake. He's definitely a king mix. I know a Jurassic Milk is a kingXmilk but he doesn't look like the ones I'm seeing. Any help?

Hello everyone.
I am still pretty novice at this and am trying to learn more about the snakes around my home. This one was an odd one because we found it stuck in the top part of the garage door (up on the rail). I am not sure it if got pulled up there when the door was opened or if it got up there on its own.
I assume that the black mark behind the eye is probably a key to identification. I don't have a photo, but the bottom was a clear checkerboard pattern.

I was thinking milk snake but don't see the "Y" or "V". Also, thrown a little by how the pattern switches up from bands to blotches.
815' elevation, western side of the Smokies, just outside of Knoxville. First noticed it while just laying fully extended on the pavers. Moved really fast once I got close to it.

Glad I found this forum. A friend of mine almost stepped on this snake near his home. In Bala Cynwyd Pennsylvania, USA. This is south-eastern PA, Philadelphia metro area.
When I try to blow up the head I think I can make out vertical pupils which makes me believe this is one of the viper varities native to PA. However others are saying it is water snake. It was found on the front porch of the house.

I recently bought my first BP. The last at the store said it was a lemon stripe. Then she said it was a fancy lemon stripe, then said it might be a high lemon stripe. I looked up lemon stripe online but there was nothing coming up. All that came up was lemon blast and lemon stripe. So I was wondering if anyone could help me out by looking at it.
