The last couple times I've put bugs in the food bowl, I've also added some plant matter for the bugs to chew on.

First time, I added some small pieces of carrot. The bugs were gone in a matter of minutes. And most of the carrot disappeared, too. I didn't see anyone eat the carrot, but the bugs didn't have a chance to do it, so it was the lizards.

Last night I threw in some pieces of endive and a few tiny bits of tortoise pellets (Pretty Pets). I watched the lizards eat the worms, and the male tried a couple of the pellets and spat them out.

Then he ate some of the endive. I was a little surprised. It wasn't by accident since all of the bugs were gone. He intentionally grabbed a small piece of endive about the size of his head and ate it.

I'll start including a bowl of chopped vegetation once a week in addition to the diet of crickets, mealworms and superworms.
