Ive never had a problem with the turtle eating snails. The problem I get with snails is they have lots of babies, and they hang out in the filter intake and clog it up. The easiest way to clean the glass on a big aquarium is with one of those magnet scrubbers. I leave mine near the top of the tank and the turtle uses it as a perch sometimes.



Another thing that will help reduce algae is turning your lights off at night. Get a lamp timer from w@lm@art, and set your lights to a day/night cycle. Your turtle will appreciate that too.



If you decide to get a pleco, make sure it is bigger than your turtle. Your turtle may still bite it, but the chance of your turtle killing it are greatly reduced.
