Weird Eating Behavior?

My good cal king has started doing something weird. This is the 3rd time he has done it. He strikes his prey (mouse) constricts it, then drags it to his water dish and drowns it. Then he eats it. He keeps his head below water drowning it. Has anyone else ever seen this sort of behavior?
