Hi There,

I am fairly new to the tortise thing myslef, but here we go. Depending on how young the tort actually is the soft shell might be a sign of a vitmanin/calcium deficiancy. Very newly hatched torts sometimes have a slightly "springy" shell. If the baby is older, I would reccomend getting it to a Herp Vet for his opinion. You should also add a moderate amount of vitmain/calcium supplements to your babies food. He/she should also be kept with UVA/UVB lighting and be able to go outside if at all possible. (Only while supervised!!)

As for coloration, I have an adult male yellowfoot that is bright orange. If you could get a pic posted, we could give our opinion. Sometimes coloration depends on the "type" of yellowfoot as well. (Location, etc.)

Good luck with your baby!

Brittani
