A few years ago, there was this relatively large influx of imported "Chitra chitras" to the U.S that people were snatching up fairly quickly. Most of them died shortly thereafter. However, most of these softshells were not Chitra chitras at all but rather wild caught Chitra indicas. I know, I bought two! However, Glades Herp did indeed have true captive bred Chitra chitras that were imported from Waco exotics in Malaysia. These turtles were truly beautiful and healthy. However, due to all of the mix up and confusion, Rob Roy had a hard time selling the Chitra chitras he had and said he would import no more. He did say he would be willing to import more if he could sell the ones he imported. I'm just wondering if there are any willing customers out there that would like to buy this species so it would be worthwhile for Rob Roy to import some more from Waco. Waco also breeds Pelochelys (bibroni) cantori actually so maybe some of them could be imported as well. Captive bred Chitras and Pelochelys are still relatively delicate so I would read up on them at Waco's website. I think it is at chitrachitra.com or something like that. I wouldn't want imported ones unless they had a carapace of at least six inches. Anyway, please chime in if you have any interest in these turtles. Thanks, Wayne.
