i like your theory, it is mine as well.

when i got my first phelsuma, i was told they didn't drink from water dishes, only from the water misted onto leaves in the cage. i put a water dish in the cage anyway, just in case he was thirsty, and the water had dried from the leaves. wouldn't you know it, he drank from it. that was over 4 years ago. there is a water dish in every cage i have, and i have seen all of them use it at one time or another. i still mist 2x a day though.
