Today I got a nice surprise—my season’s first clutch! Well, not really a surprise. It was 28 days post ovulation, pretty much right on schedule.

Eight beautiful, healthy, fertile cinctum eggs are in the incubator (one down, 29 more to go). This will be my first season using the new incubator for the entire incubation (I finished it last year part way through the season). With three levels of redundancy it should be pretty bullet proof. The main controller monitors and controls temperature and humidity. The second controller independently monitors temperature and functions as an over-limit controller. The third monitors both temperature and humidity and calls me if anything varies from my set range. It is probably a bit overkill, but it helps me sleep better at night!

Anyone else get eggs yet?

Mark
