I have two 1 year old redfoots and they can "sleep in" some days. They don't use a basking light too much unless they are too cold. Mine prefer to hangout under a ceramic heater. They love to hide and should have both a hide area and a substrate that they can burrow in to. I use a combination of cypress mulch and peat moss which is easy to keep moist.
