i remember a few years ago they were available from an overstock from a breeding project from the Hispaniola, as you said. when i spoke to the guy selling them he said that they will probably not offer them again because they did not genenrate much interest. for me, the only thing was the price, i couldnt affor $300 for them. also i think most people dont know what to do with "weird" animals so they dont want to chance it.
i think they just stayed where they were bred. they belong in the alligator lizard forum with other ophisaurus guys.
