Zebra tail lizards like it HOT. They need to be kept at a temperature gradient which includes a hot spot of like 100 degrees. If they are kept too cold, it could affect their eating. I have my zebra tails in a 40 gallon breeder tank which is 36 long x 19 wide x 13.5 high. I have 2/3 of the tank with ESU Lizard Litter Jungle Mix substrate (they like to burrow) and 1/3 masonry sand, separated by a "mountain range" of rocks. I have several large basking rocks, a 150W basking light at one end, a ReptiSun 5.0 UVB light, and 2 75W tubular incandescent bulbs in a Combo-lite fixture. I feed them crickets and waxworms, which they eagerly accept. The little female zebra tail now knows to get excited when she sees me with a plastic bag, she dances up and down and runs back and forth along the front of the tank until I put the crickets into the deep glass feeding bowl. She leaps into the bowl and eats until she's a little golf ball. The male prefers the escapees from the bowl.
