Yes - I left the egg alone. My experience from younger years is that bad eggs begin to mold fairly quickly, and sometimes eggs that look like they have gone bad are in fact still good.

I had one clutch as a child that looked like the entire clutch had gone bad in the last week, discolored and caved in.

I left the saran wrap off the top and was going to dispose of them.
The next day there were baby lizards running around the house. We only caught 3 of the 9 that hatched - the other six either got outside or consumed by our cats.
