Look along the bottom of the fence. Maybe he'll try to dig his way out. Also open up his pen so he can get back in and place lots of his favotite food in it tomorrow at the feeding time he is used to. If he doesn't show up do it again the next day. Since he's been living outside he knows the sights and smells of the area and may return.

Look underneath anything.
