"mainly ants", do you mean harvester ants?

Sounds like a good schedule you have already. That's what I do. It may not make much difference unless it's getting pretty chilly at night, but I try to feed all reptiles when they are still good and warm. Their digestion and metabolism is dependent on temperature.
