This is so freaking sad I can scarcely believe it, and I didn't even know the man. Gods only know how Terri and the kids must be feeling.

Steve was the reason that my family and I got into herping in the first place. It was after watching a week of Crocodile Hunter shows, about eight or nine years ago, that my young son asked, "Can we get a snake?" Being a major league ophidiophobe at the time, I was incredibly wary. But lo and behold, things changed. And Steve was the reason.
