I was lucky enough to meet Steve Irwin and his wife on several occasions, and feel that I am the richer for it. He was the type of guy that looked you in the eye when he shook your hand, and never forgot your name.

True, he was a bit goofy and I know that some "Serious" scientists did not feel he was good for the field in which he practiced. On the other hand, he drew huge amounts of people to be aware of wildlife, and spawned a plethora of imitators that also helped to increase interest in Reptiles and other animals.

Stevo, I cried a little when I heard the news, and I will always remember the times we talked about nature. You will be missed.
