Though they are much more instinctual and jumpy, and some might argue, less intelligent than say box turtles, tortoises, and other iguanids; I am seeing that they can be conditioned to a degree. I don't know if he recognizes me specifically, or he just doesn't see people as a threat much anymore, but my solare exhibits nearly no defensive behavior anymore. No puffing when he is picked up, not much horn tilting, no running when you go to pick him up, etc. Unless something else is going on and he is already stressed. And he tilts his head up and eyeballs what's going on. He knows when it's food time.
