A few suggestions to get better shuts with your cx7430

Keep at least 2 feet away from your subject,
Use fill flash,
Exposure compensation 1,
Auto focus center-spot
Iso 80
White balance auto or fluorescent,
Scene mode sport (it’s the only way to get faster shutter speed on your cam indoors)

Take 5 shuts and keep the sharpest. I do this even with my best cam.

Ps, dragons often show the best colors when sleeping, unless in shed.
Anyway don’t let your eyes fool you, the camera can pick up colors our eyes don’t see.
