>>im thinking about getting a red tailed boa. many people in this forum think that these are great begniners even now they get ten in feet. please tell me what you think.
What most pet stores call redtail boas are actually common boas, Boa constrictor imperator, from Columbia. The Columbians only reach about 5-6 feet for males and most females only get around 7-9 feet. Some Bci such as Hogg Island Boas and Nicaraguans only reach 4-6 feet or less. My male Columbian is my favorite snake. He's never struck at me, he always has perfect sheds, and the only time I have trouble getting him to feed is during breeding season. Just make sure you get a captive bred boa and you shouldn't have any problems.
