Right, flagyl is used to treat protozoa. I had a kitten that had Giardia. It isn't that common and the vet treated her for almost a year for different infections and different things before we found a tapeworm crawling down my jeans when I was petting her one day and then she sent off a stool to the SDU and finally found that she had Giardia too.

I will say that my first group of MHDs had both worms and protozoa but none of the ones I have had tested in the last 5 years have had anything but worms so I don't know what to say on the flagyl.

I guess this is why I pay for the fecal. I feel that the meds are too hard on these small animals to be meding them if they don't need it! You're giving them poison and I just can't see doing that if they aren't carrying parasites!
