Sorry, no pictures...

But a lady came into the petstore I work for with a baby cal king today and said we either take it or the people at her apartment complex would kill it.
I now have a baby california kingsnake.

I'll be reading up on caresheets and such to get an idea of temps and things like that, but I had a couple of questions for anyone familiar with kings from the north county part of san diego, where it gets pretty chilly. Am I going to have to worry about this little guy trying to hibernate? If I keep him warm enough, he won't try it, will he? And if he does, what should I do? He's a tiny little guy and he can't be more than a few weeks old, his little belly button is still visible. I'm going to pick up a live pinky for him tomorrow (he came in tonight after most other stores had closed) and mostly I'm going to pray he eats.
I've got ball pythons and I'm familiar with their finicky eating habits and their care, but kings are a new thing for me. Any, and I mean any, advice? If I have success with this guy I might get into breeding a couple years down the road (lavenders are just so freakin pretty) but first I want to make sure he'll be healthy and happy.

He's got cool markings - checkerboard bands in his midsection with regular bands on his head and tail, and half of his belly is clean white and the other half is checkered. I'm gonna name him Tetris

Thanks for any help!

but what I really want is more ball pythons!
