It can discolor the eggs and in my opinion it is hard to monitor the moisture using coir fiber, it stays pretty moist. I really prefer perlite. The eggs stay a bit dryer while the moisture is more in the lower layers and the air around them. I have successfully incubated in coir though so it can be done.
