My red tegu male, Mike, whom I should have named Houdini has recently become very goof at breaking through chicken wire and getting out of his cage. He's outside (we live in Florida) and he decided he thought it would be a great idea to go and visit the neighbors. Well, my neighbor tried to get him for me, unfortunately grabbing his tail as he was making a run for it under the guys house, and he dropped it (I'm assuming he dropped it, he said it was wiggling and it looks like an iguana's tail looks after they drop it). So, do they grow their tails back? I've never seen anything on this, and figured this would be the place to ask! I breed Bearded Dragons, and theirs don't, but I haven't heard of a tegu losing it's tail..

Thanks for your help (and yes, we are totally revamping his enclosure, it'll be like Fort Knox!!)
